How I Booked My Delta One Ticket
I paid cash for this ticket, but you can also book Delta One using American Express Membership Rewards points transferred to Delta SkyMiles. Keep in mind that the number of SkyMiles required is usually extremely high, which makes it a poor use of points.
This specific flight was
- DL20 Departing Seattle SEA 20:25 arriving at London LHR 14:15.
Delta One Seats
Delta's Airbus A330 900neo uses the same seat type as Virgin Atlantic Upper class on their A330-900neo, with minor cosmetic differences.
Delta One cabin.
Visually, the seat looks modern and offers good privacy. However, I found it to be very narrow, which made it difficult to sleep comfortably.

Large TV.
While the seat is narrower than the Delta One seat on the A350, it is still competitive overall. The privacy door on this seat closes completely, which is a plus, especially compared to the door that doesn't fully close in Virgin Atlantic Upper Class.
Delta's inflight entertainment system was impressive. There were plenty of movies, TV shows, and documentaries available, which helped the flight go by quickly.
One downside is that Delta does not include a mattress pad. This made sleeping less comfortable, as you are lying directly on the firm seat surface.
Bed doesn't come with mattress pad.
Delta One Wifi
Delta One passengers get free Wi-Fi onboard the A330-900neo. The connection was fast and stable throughout the flight. I was able to browse and text without any noticeable lag.
Delta One Amenities
Each Delta One passenger receives a Missoni-branded amenity kit. It looks stylish and includes the standard contents such as an eye mask, earplugs, a toothbrush, and creams. Slippers were also provided at each seat, which I appreciated.
Delta One does not offer pajamas, even on overnight flights.
Delta One Food
To be honest, I usually set low expectations for food on US carriers. My disappoining United Polaris experience made me especially cautious.
But Delta pleasantly surprised me on this flight.

Breakfast.
For the appetizer, I had shrimp and a warm bread roll. The flight attendant also offered a serving of cauliflower soup, which I accepted. The soup was creamy and flavorful, and the bread was warm and satisfying.
For the main course, I chose the beef short rib. I had heard good things about it, and it lived up to expectations. I found it to be tender, well-seasoned, and very enjoyable.
Since this was an overnight flight, most passengers, including myself, went to sleep after the meal service. In the morning, we were offered a choice between a quiche or waffles. I chose the quiche and found it quite tasty.
Final Thoughts
My experience in Delta One exceeded expectations. The private seating, solid catering, wide array of entertainment options, and free Wi-Fi made for a very pleasant journey across the Atlantic.
The narrow seat and lack of a mattress pad are definite drawbacks, but they are not dealbreakers.
Overall, I would confidently say that Delta One is a much better premium experience than United Polaris. If you are flying between the United States and Europe and have the option to fly Delta One, it is absolutely worth considering.
